I've lived in Lake St Louis before, very close to Wentzville, and very nice.
Troy is also very close, and getting nicer every day. Hwy 61 is getting very busy during commute times now days though.

We have no problems driving in the snow...spent some time in Michigan that made us well seasoned to the snow. If we end up staying at a hotel for the weekend what would you recommend? The Holiday Inn in Wentzville does not get good reviews... we are open to locations within 40 miles of Wentzille...
I am getting excited when I see some of the photos posted...it reminds me so much of home...

Bowling Green to the north is a nice area under 40 miles. They have hotels there.

I grew up in Winfield, MO. It's approximately 30 miles north of Wentzville and the surrounding area definitely has a rural feel to it. I'd be happy to answer any questions that you had about the area.

There is a little place on the highway (I am horible with names) its a truck stop looking place - lots of truckers stop there .. very good service ..very good home style food.
Its been about 3 years since I went to my mother in laws house ........so am trying to remember
AT the 4 way ..there is a pizza hut turn in the direction of the pizza hut .. look for the water towers .. there are 2 of them on the left side of the road when u see the 2nd one the sub division will be on the right ......that is the developed ground that I was telling ya about.
As far as places to see and do things ..depends on what ya like. we would head out of here (illinois) stop at MIL in Wentzville ............ go down the katy trail ways .. and hit the wineries ...........there are some AWESOME ones in that area!! One of my favorite places to enjoy wine is at Montel ... Montelle Winery: Award-Winning Missouri Winery and Online Wine Store - winery events - food and wine pairings - Midwest wineries - Augusta, MO - St. Louis - boutique winery - The atmospher is just soo great .. while there we seen Eagles in flight up close!! Its just soo relaxing!!
Then you have Herman around the corner ... Historic Hermann, MO, Heart of Missouri Wine Country
My hubby and I enjoyed walking around .. and just taking it all in!
We stayed at a bed and breakfast on the katy trails .. nicest couple ever .. was like going home to Grandmas house .. (not to bad on the budget either) I would have to dig the info up like I said I am horible on names of places ..........

Tobe- I bet I can find the place off your directions...I will keep you posted we don't fly in until Nov. 9th...
Most definatley will have to check out the winery's. I love sweeeet wine. My favorites are muscadine and blackberry...
Anything else anyone can think off once we get done getting sapped in wine country...
The more I read on Missouri the more I wished we would have came there first. Had the opportunity but passed it up for Texas. All I can say is been here, drove around, bought a house, READY TO GO Ahhh live and learn...Life is an experience... Its not that bad we have made some awesome friends here......
