I am looking forward to the visit...I hope we can squeeze in a lot in three days...I am still undecided on where to stay...Hubby has veto'd the bed and breakfasts so where is the best areas for hotels?
I am back home in Georgia this week so life is good...Going back to Texas on Saturday taking my Mother in law to see her son....It will be her first flight... This should be fun....

Me, I would make Wentzville itself home base, unless ya have an idea as to a specific direction you might want to call home, then go that area. Have heard that the Crossroads Heritage Motel in the city has had good reviews [many of the others there are not so highly rated ]. Have safe fun travels w/ that tyke!

Shadow-thanks for the tip on Crossroads...looks like its better rated than some of the name brand hotels in that area...Lots of folks saying the others are just filthy! EKKKKKK....
I just didn't know if there was one in the Wine Country area everyone favored...???

Well, as to my thinking, the 'wine area' is along the river, and then if you make your base there, you may find yourself regretting such if you then are trying to house hunt north of I-70 or such, as spending more time on the road,,, that's just me tho'. However, ifin yas are thinking you most likely will be south that way, then by all means be even better to be there. However - I don't recall [and hopefully someone will list some! ] many "hotels" in that area, unless you get down to Washington, or SE towards Weldon?
Maybe this might help some? Augusta MO B&B - Heart of MO Wine Country and Welcome to Augusta Wine Country - Augusta, Missouri USA
or head east a tad towards more civilization [for better/worse ], Greater St. Charles Convention & Visitors Bureau

Thanks Shadow...sent a rep your way...I see your point and very good one might I add! I think it would be better if we stayed near Wentzville...
We are accustomed to being in our RV when we travel but the times we travel by air we like to find at least the cleanest place...Doesn't have to be all fancy just as long as its clean.....

I would say, it depends on your income and lifestyle/interests, whether you prefer more rural or more suburb.
Consider places like O'Fallon, St. Peters, St. Charles, Troy, Chesterfield, or Lake St. Louis. Maybe even Warrenton, Augusta, Eureka, or Washington.
There are a few wineries in Augusta, you could do a search online for them. (I tried putting the links in this message and it turned out wrong). I haven't been to them, though, so don't know what they're like. These are closer to the Washington area, so it might be a bit out of your way if you plan to visit Wentzville. The Hermann ones might be more direct for you but I'm not sure.
About where to eat. If you like pizza, try Imo's or Cecil Whittaker's. If you like ice cream/frozen custard stuff, go to Fritz's. Right now I can't think of what other places you could try.
As for snow... well, I guess here there's more of it normally than in Georgia or Texas, but it's usually not that much more. Occasionally, like last winter, there is a more major snowstorm or ice. But pretty many recent winters I would say have been just mild or moderate.
I live near somewhat near the Missouri River and part of Katy Trail. In a few weeks I'm supposed to be moving to the Wentzville area, though, which I will be happy about. Not that where I live right now is bad for someone who likes a more rural area, it's just not really for me - I prefer somewhere with more things going on and closer stores.

The area is growing ... I remember going with my hubby to see his aunt and uncle and they didn't have much .. the roads are changing ... and more food places are going in .. they just built a Super Walmart ... lol yea what everyone wants to hear!
There is a Rothmans Furniture outlet - same thing as the big stores just cheaper prices - yes I have drove over and hour to get things from their before!
But right around the corners there are other things ..not to far off! St. Louis is not that far away either!

We like rural...Don't mind driving a bit to get to places. If I have a Walmart, Grocery Store and Pharmacy within 15-20 miles its all good!
I heard the GM plant is in Wentzville too, do they give tours? Where exactly is it? Is it in a busy area of Wentzville?

I have some family near the town of Eolia that is located in between Troy and Bowling Green. Both towns have those services. Troy is much more busy than BG. This area is about 40 minutes from Wentzville on US 61.
I took these pics of this particular area over the weekend to give you an idea of the rural terrain.
