Anything you know about Carrollton, MO
I'm looking for information about jobs, community information, politics, etc about Carrollton. My parents are moving out there and I'm trying to decide if I want to follow them. Feel free to email me about this or just post here. I'm so curious

Jobs are hard to get. You need a marketable skill to bring with you or don't expect much of a wage. I know that in Marshall Mo that an $11.00 per hr job is about like hitting the lottery. I am confident that major commuting will be necessary for most decent jobs. I can't think of any factory of any size in Carrolton or near it. As with most rural Mo. counties. You get caught druggin and you will go to prison. The same charge in Kansas City or St Louis will just net you probation. (no experiences of mine)

Carrollton
Well. Right now many new factories are opening up all over Carrollton. The industrial park just got a pipeline fabrication plant, the Ethanol plant just 3 miles east of Carrollton is almost complete, a bio-diesel plant is being constructed north of Carrollton, and a powerplant is being built in Norborne, about 10 miles west of Carrollton. So there are many different jobs to look for and you can bet they pay well. I've seen the population rise rapidly the past couple of years and that's good for the community. I think this town is great other than having no Wal-Mart. But those only ruin towns.

I don't think the power plant permit has been officially approved yet, and the issue is obviously very controversial with regards to CO2 emissions alone. CO2 will likely be regulated as a pollutant in the near future and that will affect all coal plants using pulverized technology.

But they have already started zoning off the construction site and word is, it's going up because of "industrial rule."

As a citizen of Carrollton I can tell you,"everything is not as it seems." This town is dying from the inside out. Our city council has discouraged any and all exceptional paying jobs. The current factory jobs in Carrollton are controlled by employers who see the demand for jobs which has resulted in low wages and poor working conditions. All new jobs within our city limits are being filled not by the most qualified but by the friend of someone who works there or they are hired as a favor to a local official. There is a power plant that might be biult but we will not recieve any of its power and we will be getting taxed for it. And as for the fuel plants that are being biult, they hold very few jobs. And the money being made at these jobs is not being spent in Carrollton but is being spent in surrounding cities that do have super stores. So to make a long story short, if you have the money to retire welcome to Carrollton if you are looking for work, your probably not going to find it in Carrollton.

I am moving to Carrolton in two weeks. I hate to hear about the work situation but I am moving for family and sacrifices must be made. I do have a question for anyone who might know. Why doesn't Carrollton have a Wal-Mart? I would think the population would warrant it.
