I live in SC Missouri on the Arkansas line. It is God's country with a lot of trees, and beautiful wild flowers. Nothing is more beautiful than topping a hill and the splendor of the Redbuds, Wild Plums, Dogwoods in full bloom before you. Or a walk through the woods and see the many different beautiful wild flowers. Song birds' songs fill the air. Wild fruit such as Elderberry, Blackberry, Dewberry and don't forget wild strawberries make wonderful jellies and syrups.

I sit at my dining room table and watch rabbits, squirrels, and deer in my back yard or watch awesome sunsets. Other pleasures are swimming in local rivers or wading in the creeks. Life is peaceful and neighbors are friends. Not to forget sitting in the yard at night and looking at the awesome sky God made for us to enjoy.

I have lived in AC, AZ, KC, near St. Louis, OkC and no place was as beautiful as home.

Thanks for the wonderful post. I'm originally from Southeastern Missouri and I feel the same way about where I grew up, out in the country. It is a lifestyle that I will keep.

grandma dolittle, Your post was beautiful and brought tears to my eyes. We are "stuck" in TX for now, but dream of coming back home to the Ozarks. There is nothing to compare it to; once you've lived there nothing else feels quite right.

Moving to the Ozarks in retirement was like coming home at last. You'd have to experience it to understand and appreciate it.

My friend, I lived one summer in Crockett, TX, north of Houston. I found myself dreaming about the cool, sweet well water and the clear, cold streams in Missouri. I hated the bitter water, and the bathwater warm lake!!!!!!! It was wonderful to come back home.

Arkansas has great trout fishing. You weren't too far from me in Gainesville.

I've only visited the Ozarks, but it is indeed beautiful country. I'm glad you are home.
