Seriously, why not? Columbia has now reached a size of almost 200,000 people and is growing, Jefferson City has a size of 40,000, and Rolla also has a decent size. The three of them basically form an area that is fairly populated. Boone County, Callaway County, Moniteau County, Cole County, Maries County, and Osage County all form a fairly populated area. So who's with me? A forum for Central Missouri?

It was already asked by a former member you have so much in agreement with..

I'd say nay. The Springfield one was created and it isn't that busy at all. I don't see a CoMo/Jeff one any different.

Columbia HAS grown by leaps and bounds. To clarify, the city now has 110,438 permanent residents. Another 65,000 or so live in the surrounding areas. And there are about 35,000 students attending Mizzou each year. That's where the 200,000 figure comes from.
Columbia is the fourth largest metro area in Missouri. Combined with the Jeff City metro area, there are over 325,000 people in the region. I think it deserves a separate thread.

I agree with MoNative. There would need to be a whole lot more threads about the area before it would warrant a separate subforum.

I was looking for a thread for central MO. We have a good chance of moving there for my husbands job and I'm trying to find information about where to live with 6 children. North/ East/ South/ West? Which neighborhood is the best to raise children in?I need a house that is at least 5 bedrooms and we need to rent it. I'm having trouble finding some information :-(

Any more specifics - location, housing budget, childrens' school needs, etc.? You might want to start a separate thread of your own.

Like to throw in my vote for a Columbia and surrounding regions forum as well.
Definitely something I would be interested in.

Iowa City has a forum now .. right? Certainly if they can support a forum then Central MO can as well, given the growth the area is experiencing.

I disagree! The Springfield forum has 1,431 threads serving a metro population of less than 500k. By comparison, the St. Louis forum has 3,735 threads serving an area of nearly 2.9 million. So-- STL has 7 times the population of SPR but only 2 and 1/2 times the number of threads. This illustrates higher per capita thread activity in SPR than in the state's biggest metro.
I believe a Columbia/Jeff City forum would be popular. What does it take to get one created??
