Eddie Eagle GunSafe|Eddie Eagle GunSafe

Can anyone tell me if any school system in Mo uses this program?

We most definitely need this program in schools in the cities.

Time during the school day to teach gun safety? I think this is part of a list of things parents teach and reinforce from the time a child can understand the dangers of handling firearms to the age when they can purchase their own. Children aren't the problem, adult gun owners are when they leave them unsecured.

I agree that it is adult gun owners. We cannot change them overall so any ting to help a kid out is good i this regard. Should not be mandatory and should be after school. Not during the regular day and the parents should be there as well.

Somehow, I remember in Boy Scout Summer camp, and YMCA camp (back in the 60's) learning gun safety and how to properly handle/shoot a bolt-action rifle. Probably about 5th-6th grade or so. Also our high school - Southwest High in the city having a rifle club. I think the rifle range was under the band room. I could just imagine what would happen if a student brought a rifle onto the school property now...

Many parents/adults don't know crap about guns either. School is the perfect place for a 3 day crash course a every few years of a kids life to really instill respect and gun safety.

Start with the eagle program then build on it every few years so the population eventually knows all about guns and how they work, since they are everywhere in our society. People won't be scared of them once they know all about them, how they operate, and what could go wrong if you mishandle them.
