Any reason why the state fair is in August? It's really hot and miserable. Most state fairs in the South are in September or October. I always remember going to the fair as a kid and sometimes wearing shorts, sometimes wearing a jacket.

State Fairs are pretty much always in August. Why would they be in Sept/Oct? Or let me rephrase that. The MO state fair already has weak attendance as a result of not being located in or near either of the state's big metros (where attendance would easily triple). But its dates do at least coincide with summer vacation, making it (relatively) easier to make the hours-long trip to Sedalia. How exactly would having it in Sept/Oct help?

I grew up in NC and our State Fair always coincided with "fall break". I agree about the location, but it's sort unfair to have it anywhere else besides in the middle of the state.

Some state fairs in the Midwest are really popular. I think Iowa and Wisconsin have awesome fairs.

We saw her at a motorcycle rally in Austin Tx. back a few years ago. Good concert.

Fall break? Never heard of that.

It's unfair to have the fair (no pun intended) in a location removed from basically all the state's main population centers. In STL or KC, it would be in the back yard of 25% or more of the state's population.

Agree the state fair is at a hot time if the year, far from population centers and a long drive. I guess the organizers don't want to move or improve so I'll skip it and attend better attractions at my county's events.
