In Missouri, hog raising is concentrated north of the Missouri River, cattle raising in the western counties, and dairy farming in the southwest.


The St. Louis Fire Department got its first steam engine in December of 1855. It arrived in East St. Louis from Cincinnati. There was no bridge spanning the Mississippi River at the time, so the 10 ton engine was gingerly hauled across the frozen river while spectators held their collective breath.

A lot of old people don't run the A/C, they either feel they can't afford it or they forget or don't know how to turn it on.
