Need to go to Purina Farms end of April.
500 William Danforth Way, Gray Summit, MO 63039

Any place that's nicer to stay around the area within 20 mins?

Wider variety of restaurants (not fast food) or better shopping options?

An area thats safer since we aren't familiar with the area is preferred.

Maybe Washington, Pacific or Wildwood? Somewhere in St Louis metro thats worth the drive every day to Gray Summit?

Thanks!!

Purina Farms is a great place to visit! If you can, see also the Shaw Nature Reserve which is also in the Gray Summit area. It's a division of the Missouri Botanical Garden. At 2,400 acres in size, spend at least half a day there to check out all the various plant life.

The stretch of Interstate 44 between Fenton to the east and Gray Summit is just fine from a safety standpoint. I'm a St. Louis area native, and have cousins who live there; but admittedly I haven't been back there for a visit in nearly a decade and don't have first-hand dining experiences at the restaurants. I'll just throw out some ideas:

Cracker Barrel - off Interstate 44 in Fenton.

The following places all have very good online reviews:
O'Dell's Irish Pub and Ale House in Eureka.
Michelle's Cafe in Eureka.
Hola Mexican Food in Eureka.
Lewis Cafe in St. Clair, just a short drive west on I-44 from Gray Summit.
Tres Toritos (Mexican) in St. Clair.

There are quite a few hotels near Six Flags St. Louis, which is located at Eureka's western boundary.

Enjoy a great time while you're there; and hopefully the weather will be favorable too.

I second northbayeric.
I would probably stay at the Holiday Inn Six Flags. Interesting building. Might be busy with kids near the weekend when Six Flags is open.
Pacific has a few places. Eureka a lot more and has a neat small downtown. Gray Summit itself doesn’t have much.
Washington is booming but I’m not super familiar with places to stay there. You won’t have trouble finding places to eat there I’m sure.

If you don't stay in Washington it is worth a trip as it is a neat old river town overlooking the Missouri river and has some nice places to eat.
