There's nothing wrong with higher taxes if it goes to something like this:

MODOT is famous for promising the moon and delivering cheese. Their track record, the handling of funds and previous mismanagement of resources does not earn my trust. Voting no on amendment seven is the smart way to go.

Higher taxes don't work, corrupt goverment will just reallocate the money elsewhere

Heard a MODOT person state that in light of the vote they'll have to limit ongoing projects to a hundred. A KC business journal mentioned aligning the fuel tax with inflation (about time). They also played the fear game and said it might lead to more fatalities (right).

How will the General Assembly defend their income tax cuts now.

Given that the cuts only go into effect if revenue raises significantly, there is nothing to defend.

Missouri needs to raise its fuel taxes (as mentioned above) and to get other forms of revenue it needs to increase its taxes on tobacco products. It has the lowest in the USA on these

Why should taxes go up statewide to fund the pet project of the cities?

I doubt all these projects are in cities. Many roads go in rural areas too..

Not that I was in favor of Amendment 7, but the cities do contribute the most to the state economy.
