We are looking at relocating in about a year and I am looking for an excellent Nursing school perferably one where I can obtain a BSN. I am not sure the area yet. We are coming to visit later this month and I think we are going to look around Lee's Summit, Pleasant Hill and possibly Overland Park. We are a young family moving from Seattle but orginally from Montana so we are craving some space or our own. We are looking for 5 acres, good housing prices and great schools. Are these neighborhoods where we should be looking? Any help with Nursing schools and neighborhoods would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

There are several great nursing programs in the area. Rockhurst University and Graceland University are two long-standing private schools with excellent reputations in Nursing and both offer a BSN. (My mother-in-law, niece and sister-in-law have attended these programs.)

As for neighborhoods, there are many great options with land. Overland Park and Lee's Summit are great places, but they are popular, so extra land may be scarce and prices will be higher than other communities. Their proximity to jobs, shopping, entertainment, etc. may be the offset.

You may want to look at other nearby cities, Olathe, Blue Springs, Grain Valley, but drive time will start to take its toll.

Default Kumc

Thank you for your help. I have looked into Graceland and have requested some information. It looks great. Maybe a little out of my price range. I will see what I can do. What about Kansas University Medical Center School of Nursing? Does anyone have any advice about this school?

Default Ku Med Center

I worked at KU MED as a Respiratory Therapist for about 11 years. Great place. I knew several therapist who went on into Nursing at KUMED and said it was a great school. St. Lukes Hospital also has a Nursing Program. I know it is a RN program but don't know if it is a BSN program.
