Since I live in the state and was raised in the state, I know that what you posted is crap. St. Louis and Kansas City, along with Columbia and basically the larger towns along Highway 70 are liberal. The rest is majority of conservative. You can believe what you like but those of us who live here know the truth. BTW, the liberals are also the ones who are trashing the state and such.

You take rather extreme positions that aren't really accurate in context.

Missouri's population is growing slowly but it is hardly unique.

List of U.S. states by population growth rate - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It's almost dead even with - you guessed it - Wisconsin, the state in which you currently reside and constantly champion. Missouri is ahead of states like Illinois, Ohio, and Pennsylvania in growth rate. It's pretty much in line with the midwest (and yes, we are in the midwest).

Nationally, one third of all counties, mostly rural, are now losing population.

A lot of the states growing faster than average are doing so because of the energy boom (North Dakota) or some combination of the energy boom/weather/economy and mass immigration, like Texas.

I'm not sure about current out-migration vs in-migration rates for various states in the Midwest, but I was referring to job growth in relation to population growth. I tend to forget that I live mid-sized Midwest metro with the fastest rate of new job growth. Wisconsin rural areas are mainly aging in place, similar to the rest of the Midwest, but more retirees moving up to the Northwoods region along the lakes. The Upper Midwest does not have nearly as many significant economic challenges from a rural poverty standpoint overall compared to some rural areas of the Lower Midwest, however.

Yes, it's a red state, and if you're not conservative then stay away, far, far away from Missouri.

Well, what you wrote was this:

"Missouri population growth greatly lags the rest of the country."

As I pointed out, that statement is demonstrably false. Missouri is a slow population growth state, but it is very consistent with the midwest as a whole and exceeds several midwestern states and several eastern states.

What do you mean by job growth in relation to population growth? Do you have a specific metric for that? Seems like you keep shifting goal posts here.

Focusing on population growth at the county level, which was your original - I mean second point, Missouri has several counties that outperform Dane County between 2000 and 2010:

Dane County, Wisconsin: 14.43%

St. Charles County population growth (STL Metro): 26.98%

Lincoln County (STL Metro): 34.98%

Green County (Springfield Metro): 14.47%

You can look them up here:

Heck, to compare counties with flagship universities, Boone County (housing the University of Missouri) grew 20 plus percent from 2000 to 2010:

You might want to tighten up your sweeping statements a bit.
