Best Pizza in Columbia???
Hello you all. I am going to be visiting Columbia often and we don't have a good pizza place here in Macon. All we got is Dominoes, Pizza Hut and Casey gas station. These are not a pizza place to me. I want to go to a MOM and POP pizza shop. Can anyone recommend the best pizza to have in Columbia? Also if you got a great place for sushi. I am dying for Sushi too???? Thank YOu.
Karey

Shakespeare's is the classic Columbia pizza joint, but only the 9th St. location near campus, not the one out West Broadway.
My only choice for sushi is Sake on 10th St. It's ok, but not special. The only other choice I'm aware of is Osaka on Nifong, which I can't recommend for anything. Actually, if you catch it at the right time, perhaps the freshest sushi in town is at Schnuck's grocery, Forum at Stadium-- they have a sushi chef on staff. But I really don't know when they put the fresh stuff out, and freshness is everything in sushi IMO.
edit- after asking my wife, she says she had good sushi at Simma Down, a new restaurant inside Wilson's Total Fitness, a fairly upscale gym south of Schnuck's on Forum.

Will strongly agree w/ cyrano regarding Shakespeare's - great pizza. While its been a few years since have been there, recall the fun we used to have after caving/rumbing trip in the area - stop there, give some goofy name to the staff for 'em to call out our name(s) And then chow on some very tasty pizza.

Looks like there are four in Columbia! Click on this link for the Quizno's store locator there: http://www.quiznos.com/storefinder/r...y=25&Zip=65201
I'm glad you received feedback about pizza places there; Papa Murphy's came to mind, but there you take it home and bake it in your own oven. They're sure good though! Even though the San Francisco 49ers finished the season 5-11, Papa Murphy's "49ers" pizzas with sausage and pepperoni sure hit the spot with me! Maybe they have identical pizzas there that they call "Mizzou Tigers" pizzas, who knows?

A Beer Advocate review on Shakespeare's Pizza: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/11624
Man o man! This place is gonna be rockin' tomorrow, 'specially when da Mizzou Tigers whomp Arkansaw. Another place to write down when I make my road trips from St. Joe to St. Louis and back. Yummy pizza to hold us over for the rest of the trip!

I guess we don't get out much. We always talk about how good the pizzas were that we used to get from Casey's in Eldon!! Here in Gunnison about the best you can do is frozen pizzas from a grocery store! When they're on sale of course!

Karey,
My daughter is a freshman at Mizzou...she also recommends Shakespeare's. It the best according to the Mizzou crowd.
For Sushi she said to check out "Sake" sp? on 10th street downtown. I have been there and it's pretty good considering you're in Columbia MO.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours!!!
