the hungry owl is yummy, the blue heron was horrific  ! stray dog BBQ is good, as is Micheals and hole in the wall pizza, hope this helps, have fun in Van Buren, one of my fave places in Mo! |

The Hungry Owl is closed. As is Michaels. Michaels is now the Mercantile which I haven't tried yet. The Float Stream is good and Smalley's on Main street has great fried chicken and locally smoked bbq.

Jolley Cone is great too. I'm sure they'll be open for summer by the time you go.

I'm a big fan of Smalley's too. I'm also a big fan of the yeast rolls at the Float Stream. They are made fresh daily.

Food in VB
Hungry Owl has reopened under new management, even added deck dining. It's a great mix of international foods, all home made. She also has awesome desserts!! Also, a new BBQ place opened on the Square, Dean's BBQ. It's good, but Stray Dog or Smalley's are still my picks.
