I got a speeding ticket today for a 42 in a 25. My first ticket ever. Yeah, yeah, I know, slow down...

Someone told me that in Missouri, you can request a SIS (Suspended Imposition of Sentence) if it's your first ticket.

Does anyone have any experience with this process?

Make sure you don't get a speeding ticket in Warrensburg, MO. The prosecutor refuses to negotiate with anyone unless they have a lawyer. I guess corruption is alive and well.

When I lived in other states, I never had to get a lawyer for minor traffic infractions.

My husband got the ticket reduced to a non-moving violation, which doesn't affect your insurance. You have to get an attorney, and the whole thing (attorney fees and the revised violation) will cost you more than your original ticket. Ask around for attorneys in your area who handle traffic tickets. Not hard to find one, it's a very lucrative racket.

I've only heard of SIS in DUI cases.
