Getting a Missouri drivers lic.
When I go to get my Missouri drivers license, I know I have to surrender my old license, but will the state of Mo. make me take a driving test or a written test, in order to get a license.

You surrender your current license, take a visual test of street signs then pass an eye test. Be sure you have your birth certificate issued by the state not the hospital. I lost mine years ago so I had to order a duplicate. Keep in mind some states like CA have a months long backlog of requests so in some cases it can take some time to acquire one.

As long as your out-of-state license has not expired you don't have to take the driving test.

-Birth Certificate
-Old driver's license which they'll chop up and send to Jeff City where it will be checked and disposed up
- Proof of insurance
-Title
-Vision screening test
-Very simple roadsign test....stop/stop nearing/stoplight ahead/railroad tracks caution....
*And....this one's HUGE...in MO we are a little silly and we treat vehicles as taxable property. Thus....you will pay income taxes on yoru vehicle (and teh sales tax on cars is pretty steep, too). You need to go to the nearest tax and revenue office and pick up a tax waiver for 2007. You'll turn that in when you register your vehicle in MO.
*Another biggie....in MO you are not required to carry proof of insurance because the data is actually logged in your tags. For that reason, people here like to steal your tags. When you pick up your new plates and tags make sure to slice cuts in your tags after applying them--sorta like a checkerboard--so that if somebody tries ripping them off they'll come off in pieces and he'll stop doing it. Just as the DMV rep. and they'll tell you what to do....
