Now I display these one of a kind ancient wonders all around in chosen spots. I'm sure it makes the natives jealous!!! Uhhhhh, native rocks that is.
Every once in a while I think I'll hire a fire engine to hose the thin layer of dirt off my yard and just have a rock garden.

Jdslady...we can't forget you!

I liked yesterday's temps better...

Now why didn't I think of that???? A few years ago a family lived not too far from us and just about every day you would see the wife out in her front yard picking up rocks and throwing them onto the road. Once in awhile we would pick some of them up, they were too big to drive over!!! Yep, god old Missouri rock gardens.

Hope all going great for you, LJ. .

It's fun to read all the "rock" comments. Wish that was all I was finding. When we bought this place it never occured to us to ask what it had been before. It was, after all, a development with the word "estates" in the title.

When we got around to cutting our three acres the bones started to show up. Some I recognized - deer were plentiful back in Wisconsin but some were huge! Dinosaurs? Well, no, just bovine of some ilk - huge jaw bones, big femurs, enormous teeth. The remains were all over the place. Then the bits of corrugated metal and strands of barbed wire started working themselves out of the soil. Oh, my gosh.

Only really good thing about buying a house in an "estates" that was used to graze cattle for 30 years is that there's a fairly decent level of top soil., rich with humus, on top of the clay.

This will be our second spring and summer here. I'm sure hoping most of the debris has worked itself to the surface and the winter grass we sowed last fall is going to take root.

We're fine here. A little thunder, lightning, and wind. The worst of it went by us.

Default Good Morning

Morning everyone. Hope this dreary day finds everyone fit as a fiddle. Finally got the wireless card to load the page.... have a guy coming out this morning to see if we get a better signal with broadband. Snow hasn't hit here yet about 10 miles north of Branson. Northwoods, Lake Junkie, thank you for the kind words. Know what you mean about the job market. I was lucky enough to find a job downtown in a quilt shop. Love having to work only part time and love the job !!!!!!! Sure beats dispatching that's for sure.
