Unhappy Staying a Californian a little while longer....

An employment candidate with more managerial experience than I have got the job I had applied for in Parkville, I'm afraid. While this is a disappointment for me, I'm at peace with their decision; and the person I spoke to on the phone early this morning highly encouraged me to keep looking for future openings with them. I will definitely do so, and continue looking for work in the same field in St. Joseph.

It was great that the individual took the time to call me on the phone, which made the news easier for me to take than if I had gotten a letter in the mail. I just have to keep trusting that this is all in God's timing and better plan for me. Ideally, I would live AND work right in St. Joseph. So it could be that He's saying, this is My plan for you too, but now is not the time yet. At each OTFCC get-together you guys have, know that I'm with you in spirit at least, if not yet in person! We'd certainly love to come down there and have a great time with all of you! Meanwhile, we'll keep doing what we're doing, paying down debts and trying to sell our house.....

Edit: How could I forget to thank you all for keeping us in your best thoughts, wishes and prayers for us? I'll keep you posted on our goings-on!

I know you must be disappointed, but, you have the right attitude! Good things come to those who wait....

Eric,

I'm so sorry to hear the wrong guy got the job. ;( But, like you said....God has his plan, and when the right opportunity comes along...you'll get it. It just seems that he sure is testing your patience, isn't he?

With that said, if we just wait for God's lead, we end up happier in the end. Cuz, like I've probably said before, if we'd have sold our house when we got our first offer, the house we're in now wouldn't have been on the market when we got here, and we would have ended up somewhere other than where we are now, and we are very happy with where God led us.

So, although we were quite bummed at the time, we see that God had better plans for us, and that makes it all worth it. Plus, if we'd have sold the house sooner, it would have brought us here right smack dab in the middle of the crazy Ice Storm that hit this are in Jan of 2007. And THAT would have sucked big time!!!

God must have something extra special in store for you. So, we'll keep prayin' and the dear Lord will file them away for use when the time is right. We know you'll get here Eric, and when that day comes....Lord Have Mercy, we are going to have a parrrrrrrrtaaaaaaay!!!!! Wooooo Hoooooo!!!!!

Thanks for the update though.....we were all on pins & needles.

Hugs & Extra Prayers,
Boof

Hi, everyone!

I've been going through some tough times here and miss you all! I've enjoyed the beautiful artwork and am impressed with all the talent that is in this group! I'm really intrigued by those rocks, Darlynn!

I'm such a wanna be!

Eric, I'm so emotional these days and can't help but cry as I think about what you're going through. You and Boof have said things exactly right and if I had time, I could share a story similar to hers. Just keep looking up like you have been. Only God can give you peace and strength to get through this, not to mention answer all your prayers. It's so hard when you want something as badly as you want this.

If I may make a suggestion, I suggest you go back to square one in your prayers, asking God to confirm that you heard him correctly for where you want to move. It is just possible that this may be the hold-up. I'm not saying it is, mind you...but it is something you might want to consider prayerfully.

Btw, are you guys in any kind of danger with those fires out in northern CA?

You have sure brightened up this forum with your fine artwork, Huck! Thank you so much as always for sharing some of it with us.

Mrs. G., I think God must be telling me to wait awhile longer. I so wish my discernment abilities were better, but I'm just trying to be as docile as I can to His Holy Spirit, be patient yet ready to act on a moment's notice if it seems like He's saying Go!

My job out here has been just fine, but I've been just a little frustrated that I've seem to hit a career advancement ceiling despite finishing grad school a little over a year ago. Again, this has to be His way of trying to make me a more patient person. I just feel like I've been skipped over in favor of people who have been with the organization much less long than I have. Then I get angry at myself for feeling a bit envious at them. In my efforts to advance, I can never wish anyone any kind of harm or setback.

My wife and I really like St. Joseph. Springfield is about as populous as where I live now, and we'd like to move to a town that isn't quite as congested. St. Joe, as I've written before, is on the whole a very pretty, quaint old town with a lot of great history. My wife loved it when she saw it despite the time of year we visited it (late March) when it still looked like the bleak midwinter there.

I think right now that I need to just keep my eyes open and jump at the chance for employment in the same field I'm in when the opportunity presents itself in St. Joe--or if the same or similar position opens up with the organization I applied for in Parkville.

Our air quality in Santa Rosa was very bad last week, and there were places such as Ukiah and the entire Central Valley that were even worse. We had a rather spooky, apocalyptic-looking faint pink sunset a week ago, with the smoke so heavy I could look at the sunset and not be at all blinded. The latest news is that the residents of sparsely populated Big Sur (Monterey County coast 225 miles south of us) is having to evacuate from the fires. I think our air quality so far this week has improved to Moderate, but we are not out of the woods by any means. With over 1,400 fires throughout the state, our firefighters are having to let some fires literally run their course and allow to burn until it rains again, which won't be until at least September or even early October. We've had less than 1 inch of rain fall here since late February, and it's uglier and browner than I've ever seen it here this time of year. And to think Springfield has set all kinds of rainfall records this year.

As I wrote privately to SJ Fanatic, my wife and I have felt (even though my wife's a native Californian) like Midwest square pegs that won't fit in California's round hole! We'll never stop wanting to move back there.

northbayeric....have read your many posts and do fell sorry that your hopes have been dashed. However, only temporarily, I am sure. As you feel, must be something better lined up for you in the future. While this setback hurts, it is just that, a setback. Not a final deterrent to your quest. You'll get here. Bless you and yours. Maybe take another look at different prospects. Sometimes He answers our prayers in ways we don't quite understand at first. So just maybe, He wants you to seek answers in a different way.

Good luck to you and 'it' will happen soon.
