Yes, blu, she when she returns to her paradise in Louisiana she will have to take of the rose colored glasses and the blinders too. I am sure there are drug problems there just like all over this country. And welcome to our forum.
And I am afraid that with the way the economy is downhill rapidly that many of the hard working people out there are going to be the next down-and-out folks causing them to become discouraged and at the end of their ropes. Drugs and alcohol just seem to be the route to escape reality for many of those people.
I loved your post Mariesbees. I had to laugh at the op's "mute" point also. Keep up the great posts.

Default Uneducated...I don't think so.

I am a 30 year employee of the University of Missouri and have a few facts and figures for the op.

The University of Missouri has 28,070 current students of which 22,887 are Missouri residents. There are 265 degree programs of which 6,772 degrees were granted in 2007. The University has 12,249 employees, many of whom are required to have a college degree in order to be considered for employment. There are currently 244,140 living alumni, 123,034 in Missouri, 45,000 in St Louis and 23,879 in Kansas City.

These are just the statistics for the University of Missouri in Columbia. There are 103 additional colleges and universities in the state of Missouri. The numbers of college graduates would be astronomical.

Wow, I just popped in what should I find? Someone insulting my favorite state in the whole world? I have traveled the world and would live nowhere else. I got my degree at Washington University, but I guess that doesn't count because the university is in, Yikes!, Missouri. But if we're so stupid why is hubby going to school here? Seems like his educational credentials might be a bit suspect.

Well I'm not too high and mighty to go to a good bluegrass festival or camp in our beautiful state forests and float our rivers. They're the best reason to stay here. And I've lived in one of the most depressed areas of the state where drug use is rampant, and by no means was everyone I met on drugs and undereducated. It certainly was a problem, but there were also a lot of very smart people working to alleviate the suffering. I had a chance to work with some of the kids from those homes and it's bad, but not hopeless. I hope I did my part to show them that there's a big world out there, but no place like home.

I went to a wedding in Lafayette La last year and it was at a rental hall with a gazebo outside that is mainly used for photo's. All around the ground on the grassy area were the little baggies that coke/meth/crack come in. There were plenty of them in varying states of age. Somebody in La sure likes to party.

Well, it's nice to see everyone is so interested in cookies and have gone so off topic it's a mute point now.
Kim, if you're going to come on here and insult our intelligence, perhaps you should make sure you know how to use your words correctly. The spelling and usage is "moot point". Just so you know. (For the rest of you--I never do that unless someone is insulting my people, and I take more pride in being from Missouri than I do in being from the U.S.)

Yes Kim, there are people in Missouri who use drugs. They are still in the minority. It depends on the neighborhood you live in. Hmm? And from what I can tell, you and Tony are the only ones posting on this thread who actually get public assistance. Yeah hubby(?) is going to school. So? My husband and I managed to put ourselves through school without taking out a loan, accepting money from our parents, or getting public assistance. It took longer is all. And tight money management.
