Hoosier:“a big, burly, uncouth specimen or individual; a frontiersman, countryman, rustic, redneck” reflect the kind of use this word had before it settled down in Indiana. As a nickname, Hoosier was but one of a variety of disparaging terms arising in the early 19th century for the inhabitants of particular states. Texans were called Beetheads, Alabamans were Lizards, Nebraskans were Bug-eaters, South Carolinians were Weasels, and Pennsylvanians were Leatherheads. People in Missouri might have had it worst of all—they were called Pukes.
Wow, I was a Hoosier now I'm a Puke. Just can't get any better than that. Maybe it's Pukes because of all the drugs 'n booze we's a use'n here. We just get so sick we's all a puke'n.
Speak'n of booze,..NBeric....I'll take a glass of Merlot please.

I would've posted sooner, but I was coming down from all the meth I drank last night, and was too shaky to type!
I was a beethead now I'm a puke? Ok, I'm good with that...
Make mine a white merlot....
This forum is full of Pukes and Puke wannabes!!!

Okay Darlynn, your little puking smilies was just way too much!... LOL
I actually have not heard of a white merlot. But will have to check it out. Dahubby says I get to goofy on white wine, I use to drink white Zin. all the time. Merlot doesn't affect me as bad I guess. But, I'm willing to be a guinea pig and try white merlot and then red merlot and see which affects me the worse.

Okay, which one of you had a 'friend' pretend to be the OP and start this thread? Surely this can't be for real. Of course I did check out post #31 of Louisiana...'Does Louisiana have low self esteem' thread. Makes you wonder...

There are an awful lot of reasons for the lack of education, drug use and the other problems mentioned in this thread. Most, IMHO, are sociological in nature; some are governmental. For instance, having government set standards and then teaching to pass them.
I am presently living in Hawaii and I would pit the locals against anyone for examples of a lack of education. This is not stupidity, by the way. I don't have the answers but I can assure you, our government doesn't have one.
