Depends on what you are hunting. As far as shooting, it needs to be big enough for the range to be safe.
Most counties are unzoned, so you can shoot on your land if it is rural and unzoned.

As much as you can afford, with the fewest neighbors you can find.

I like shooting too, but don't like to listen to it all day on Saturday at home, and it makes my dog crazy. Even if it is legal, it's annoying, and I think is inappropriate for a suburban small farm area zoned to five acre parcels like mine. Better in more rural parts where they average place is 40 acres or more.

If you are going to have frequent, noisy habits, the further you are from neighbors, the better.

I would agree, which is why I love that suppressors are legal in this state. 👍🏻
