Scam suspect taps sympathy time and again
A slick con artist has been working Columbia over. This not pointing a finger at "innocent until proven guilty" person. He does have an excuse or two! |

Gee Versatile, I never would have thought of doing that. Maybe I should put on a dress and heels (ewwww) and see if I can get my bills paid.
I hope they don't just give him a slap on the wrist or he will just move on and start doing it again. |

Unfortunately I know of another scammer who pulled similar stunts. He and his wife would start attending a church and after a few weeks come up with a hard luck story about needing rent money. Then there was something else, then more. After they wore out their welcome (and drained the church's resources) they would move on to the next church. They even had one church calling family members to try to help them get their children back. The state had taken the kids away due to unbelievable abuse.Of course that's not the story the churches got. The best con artists are the ones that don't LOOK like it, because they are believable.
