Interesting that it would be in Independence. Independence is the headquarters of the RLDS Church, which has the most complete genealogical records in the entire world. Their genealogical information is online at ancestry.com, and most of it is obtained from public records. The RLDS Church in Independence and in Salt Lake City are amazing record-keepers.
