Garth:
Your responses to this question has been very accurate and complete. So much so that I'd like to ask if you can offer any comparisons between the overall cost to quality of living index (eg; which state is most favorable for retirees?) between MO, AR, and OK? What I'm interested in what one pays for what one gets on a yearly basis for cash shelled out. Again, for a retiree. Obviously, annecdotal info is appreciated in lieu of facts. Thanks in advance, Dave |

Dave,
Thanks for the compliment. However, I think you're giving me a little more credit than is due. I wish I could break things down for you, but I don't have a broad enough base of information to do that.My research began with climate and then demographics, and then proceeded into money issues. As such, there are some regions that I haven't even considered because they didn't make my first cut based on my criteria. It didn't make much sense to me to consider an area with a lower cost of living if I disliked it for other reasons. I can give you some of the links that I've been using during my research. I think that you'll find the first one in the list very helpful. It's probably the best to find the comparative information that you're seeking. You can get direct comparisons on the same page between different cities. It'll give numbers for for cost of living, housing, etc. Here's the list: Taxes by State CNNMoney.com: Taxes by state 2005, by rate Tax-friendly places 2005 - Feb. 16, 2006 http://www.taxfoundation.org/files/7...87f17fbba5.pdf http://www.taxfoundation.org/files/c...bb6bf5ceaf.pdf Individual Income Tax Rates-2007 State taxes I hope that helps a little. Good luck. Last edited by Yac; 11-02-2007 at 05:14 AM. |

I've seen some of those, but the others, not. I was hoping for some pragmatic info (eg; "when I lived in_______").
Thanks Dave |
