Good guess, but I don't think that's it. I live in North Idaho where we get 4+ feet of snow on the roofs and there are a lot of mobile/manufactured homes here.
I would assume that is what the people could afford. I have noticed quite a few for sale as well. From looking at income levels in rural areas of Missouri, most people are'nt bringing in big bucks.
Oh, what some would'nt give to live even in a mobile.

mrsgeneaology...thank you for a warm welcome.
Very true about the snow......we can get a bunch..not as much the last few years in my area as usual but enough lol. We do have mobile home parks and their roofs are ok so not sure about that.
It is funny how different areas of the country are so different.
When I was in florida....the particular area I was in....I hardly ever saw a 2 story home......very strange to me.....
we do have trailer parks but very rarely see a mobile home on land in the country like I have seen on the real estate sites for farms in Mo.
Go figure...

Well, it was worth a guess. I think you have some good thoughts there, OnOurWay. I only had a little experience to go on.
It is funny, River Wood, how you can almost tell what state you're in by looking at some of the homes, isn't it? In AZ, we've seen neighborhoods made up of MHs but they're not in a MH park. Now, THAT'S a TRIP!

It seems like I see them more frequently in MO where the economy is poor. I would not like to live in one--I'm afraid of tornadoes and I must have a house with a basement.

I've lost interest in the idea but recently I researched floor plans on mobiles to check for models that could be used with basements with MO in mind. Found several models designed to set on top of basements like a stick built. Even with a stick built, I'm with you on the basement. Any house as far as I'm concerned is not safe enough in a direct hit.

You're exactly right, Nomadicus. No building is safe in a direct hit...and is there any other kind? I'm not sure! Someone has said they didn't want to live in a MH because tornadoes are attracted to them! Hahahaaa! No, there is no magnetic pull on a MH in a tornado, folks!
On the other hand, there do seem to be "tornado alleys" and it would make sense to stay out of them if you can...but don't think for one minute that you are safe just because you don't live in one of those so-called "alleys"!
Anyway, prayer is what I'm relying on...and even if our MH got "hit" by a tornado, I'd know that God will see us through...or take us HOME...as HE sees fit. I knowww...it sounds good NOW, huh? Don't get me wrong...it would be SERIOUS HARD to have a tornado hit our house...but our God is a BIG GOD!
