I noticed MO has more of these...any reasons?
I noticed when searching real estate that there are many MANY rural properties with mobile/manufactured/modular homes on them.
Around the area of MN that I am from...you just don't see that very much at all unless you visit a mobile home park.
Is there a particular reason that I am unaware of?
Just curious

I suppose one reason some people may scrape up the land money and have to get by on less of a dwelling place. Land may be the priority. I've known a few to use a mobile until they got their dream home built a few years down the road. Maybe some just don't care about any better. It's not just MO. There are pockets like this around the nation. I've seen this in my travels for years.

New Mexico, AZ and Texas has lots more on their rural property. LOLOLOL You should see NM. It is at least 50% mobile homes I would say, at least the parts we have been and visited.

The funny thing is that I have seen mobile homes that cost more than many stick built ones and with more fancy items too. Many mobile homes are not less of a dwelling place at all.

You are absolutely right. Here in FL there are many developments with some biggie 5 bedroom models. They look very expensive inside and out. I've been through them at home shows. We also have our fair share of the rural units in the flat woods off the beaten trails. Every so often I see the mobile off to the side and a nice new home being built. And sometimes it's not such a place that I would want to live near. Lots of variations with mobiles. Even after all the hurricanes damage back in 04 the mobile home industry seems to be booming here. I don't have any hard figures but I see them being moved on the highways often. I've know several retirees from other states who buy them as they are ready to move into without the hassle of building a house and with the attitude if they last 15-20 years that's all they will need. Each to their own. Zoning laws around my part of the world are some what strict now on where they can be setup.

I've lived in MO for a while now. When I was talking of moving here, everyone said that its one big trailer park. I dont see that at all. I dont really think that there are more here than anywhere else. If you want to see a lot of trailer houses, drive through New Mexico on I-40. Particular the Gallup NM area. WOW...

When I lived in N MO during the 70's you about had a better chance of getting a nice buck during dear season that finding a mobile home around where I was. I know they exist but they simply are not usually a problem IMHO.

Hi, River Wood! Welcome to the forum!
I don't know if there are more than other states but I can guess why you don't see them as much in MN...
I used to live in the mountains of southern CA and I only saw one MH up there. In my job, I was asked about whether they were allowed so I contacted someone in the county offices and was told that they were allowed but that it was hard to find a MH built out there that had been built to handle the weight of snow on the roof.
Following that thought, I know that MN is known for some serious snow so I'm guessing that might be a factor...but I'm totally guessing.
