Default Heading to Moberly LaborDay Weekend!!

Relocation is set in stone. My husband and I will be coming (going) to Moberly on LaborDay Weekend for 1 week to look for a place to live.
Actually I found the house I really liked and it closed 2 days ago.
I am faxing my paperwork to the Moberly School District, in hopes of myself obtaining employment.

If anyone has any ideas about the Moberly area.......mostly neighborhoods, schools, etc........ it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Kim

Hi! And "welcome" to Moberly! I don't know how much you know about the area but I must say it is what I consider to be "just right". (Take that from someone who was born and raised here.) While we are considered a small town we are only 30 minutes from Columbia so if you are interested in the "bigger city" venues they are close by. I graduated from Moberly Schools and believe they provide a quality education, and a well rounded sports/extra-curricular program. I don't know the currently numbers but my graduating class was 200+ 20 years ago. If you like smaller schools there are several small districts in the outlying area. My kids go to school in Cairo, the town has less than 200 for population but the school has over 400 kids. Great school! Not as many sports and such but quality education. I think the same can be said for many (if not all) of the surrounding schools. I can't tell you much about neighborhoods since I was born/raised/live in the country but I am sure one of our local realtors (Century 21, Coldwell Banker, etc) can help you find just what you are looking for.
Good luck in your search for a house and again, welcome to Moberly!

I can't speak for the schools, however I do know Moberly very well and I can tell you that there are some areas that you may want to avoid in the town itself and it's strictly on a street by street basis. One street may be wonderful and the next, not so much. You definitely have to see for yourself. I have friends who live close to the college in a beautiful old house and they absolutely love it there, and others who live just out of town and they couldn't be happier either. I also know another couple that live in town and they can't wait to get out of there, so it really does come down to checking the area out in person to see what would be acceptable to you.

I don't think Moberly is any different than most towns, you have your good areas and your bad, it's just as I said before, in Moberly it's on a street by street basis.
