I think Hannibal would be an excellent choice. Home of Mark Twain's boyhood, near Mark Twain Lake and right on the mighty Mississippi. Not nearly so many ticks, rocks, snakes and chiggers. Well, some of all those, tho.
You can actually hoe a garden without hitting a rock every stroke.
