Default military graduation information

Our son is supposedly Graduating on December 5, 2008. We have never been there. How do we pack because I am sure it will be cold there. How much are the cab fares to go into Fort leonardwood if we don't rent a car?Is there a big difference ? Do we give him a Graduation gift ? Like what ? He was supposed to be deployed the next day to his homebase. We are planning to stay at Holiday Inn Express which states on their website to be 3 miles away.Is that agood place to stay ?

I'm going to move this to the general Missouri forum because Fort Leonard Wood is really no where near St. Louis. the folks there should be able to better help you.

So are you flying? Into where? St. Louis? You'd have to rent a car in that case, as it's about a 2 hour drive to Fort Leonard Wood.

Might also look at some of the other threads regarding Ft. Leonard Wood, graduations, and the such... http://www.city-data.com/forum/searc...archid=7704569
Especially maybe these:

If you are flying to the 'main' airport, its actually on Ft Wood - TBN and KTBN are codes for that one, on Forney Field.
There is another smaller non-commercial airport is "Taylor Field", north of town.

Yes, that hotel is good, and in nice/safe area. As to a gift, can't say - maybe food, hugs, blessings, and thanks? The weather can be definitely cold during that time, but by same token could be warm - best thing to do is look at an on-line weather forecast [such as intellicast.com] a few weeks, and then a few days before yas head west. Sorry don't know anything about the cab fares vs. rentals.

Congratulations, and thanks to him for service. Best wishes... and safe travels.
