Well there may be some who, if Barack Obama gets elected President, will say, Hey, wait a minute, maybe Todd Palin is on to something as far as Alaska seceding from the Union is concerned.
Sarah Palin could then become the first President of the Republic of Alaska. Mind all of you, none of this is a reflection of my own views, I'm just saying the potential for such a movement could grow exponentially with Obama at the controls.
GraniteStater, I hope you've been enjoying some wonderful fall colors up in New Hampshire this season!

Biting on the wedge issues?? That's not a statement, its a smug remark..... It sounds to me like Eric has core beliefs and issues that are important to him. Why can't you reply and say you disagree and explain why?? Plains10 wants to go on the attack, yet won't state which candidate he supports.
Sorry, but I'm calllin' bulls$%t on that one.

I think everyone can agree that we need some changes.. but the last thing this country needs to do is act rashly - jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire. That's what I believe a chunk of proposed changes on certain issues by both candidates and parties will do.
This is still a fantastic country, but we only need a few subtle changes to make a world of difference in many areas.

Sorry, but I don't think Americans care too much about social issues and other wedge issues when the economy, healthcare, education, and foreign policy are of the utmost importance right now.

To be honest I am tired of partisan politics overall.
I am an INDEPENDENT first and FOREMOST
I think that New Hampshire knows Senator McCain better than almost any other state, and many residents that I have talked have much disdain for the changes they have seen in him lately. The constant attacks and derision are major turnoffs to most independents around here, and the nomination of Palin did not help matters. McCain is catering to the southern Conservative Republicans, and that does not sit well in northern states like NH.

Don't vote for anybody. Just move to one of those places you love so much.
America exists because we didn't want to be like the rest of the world. It should stay that way.
Beware the changes you ask for.

Look where the vast majority of food and natural resources comes from.. might want to rethink that approach. Besides, that's why I'm a huge supporter of state law over federal laws - so people with different values can choose to live in states that appeal to them. We don't need a separate country for that if the federal government wouldn't interfere with our lives..

I say get the government out of all those things, except foreign policy, and we'll be on the right track.
