In Springfield or surrounding areas:

Pizza - Imo's is good for the St. Louis style thin crust. There is also a place in Springfield across from Sam's Club called Cravin Pizza that has a Chicken Florentine pizza that is to die for.

Steak- I went to J. Bucks at the mall last night - pretty dang good KC Strip. Outback and Steak and Ale are also good.

Mexican - I have always liked Celito Lindo, but Mexican Villa is an institution.

BBQ - Buckinghams. Period.

Breakfast - Aunt Martha's Pancake House, Scramblers, IHOP, oh wait, and the buffett at Hemmingways in Bass Pro mmmm.

Ok, now I'm hungry

We are going to be around the Springfield area June 9-16th. I'm getting hungry now.

We will fly into St. Louis and drive to Springfield. If you know of somewhere in St. Louis to grab lunch that would be helpful...

We are staying at the Marriott Suites. I hope it's nice.

I'll weigh in on Springfield eats:

Pizza: Aris is my favorite. (Republic Road near National)

Steak: Higher end - Flame or Doe's Eat Place (Both at or near downtown)

Mexican: Acambaro (Glenstone and Sunshine) I don't think Mexican Villa is very good.

BBQ: Buckinghams IS the best. (North Glenstone)

Breakfast: Anton's (South Glenston near Grand)

Real Italian: Bruno's (downtown) or Gilardi's (near campus on Walnut)

High End eats: Bijan's can't be beat (Walnut downtown)

Sports Bars: Fox & Hound (near Home Depot, South Glenstone - Enterprise)

Japanese Steakhouse: Nakato (South Glenstone)

Sushi: Haruno (South Fremont) and Umi (South Kimbrough)

Is it lunch time yet?

Oh don't get me started. Back in the day (early 80's, yeah I'm old) there was a Taco John's down the street from the University of Idaho campus. After a few hundred beers, we would make a run. They had this green hot sauce that would literally set you on fire. We used to play "Taco Roulette". Order 12 tacos for 5 bucks, one with green sauce (and don't mark which one) and then everyone eats out of the bag until someone jumps up and runs for the bathroom.

mmmmmm Taco Johns.

I know, I live in Phoenix and we had a Taco John's in Tempe which was 45 minutes from my house, but I would make the drive. It's long gone. When I go back to Omaha, NE I think I eat Taco John's everyday. LOVE IT.... So no Taco John's in or around Springfield?? They need to get one before I come in two years...

nostress13 is on a distinguished road
We have a rating system here in LA county.Letter grades are posted on the windows of any place that serves or sells anything edible. Just wondering if Springfield has something that provides info on how clean and safe the food establishments are? Thanks. You are all sooo helpful.
