Missouri is doing fine these days.... The number of PayDay loan compaines illustrates that I think. I do not like seeing my friend and kin suffer during this economic time but hey alot of us voted for it i guess.

Yeah, squirrelguy, I've met some nice folks from upstate NY, who had also lived in NYC also. It was a nice family who'd moved out to CA for a job relocation. Same thing with a guy from Boston, whose wife was from MO, but my initial experience with a couple Boston people had led me to think they were abrasive.

Do you really believe that the preponderance of payday loan companies in Missouri is indicative of a good economy?

No ozarksboy, was just having a sarcastic moment. I think the opposite actually. Everytime I head back to St. Francois county I see more of those durned places. The state should run 'em out like Arkansas did IMO, or at least regulate the rates they charge.

Those places are sprouting up like weeds in the rural areas, and it sucks that in most places it's hard to make a decent living without having to move or commute to a city.

Im not sure what these places are used for out there in MO ... but in my area non-Americans can get their checks cashed at them ( they don't have a S.S. number to obtain a banking account ) and they can send their money wired back to their old homeland ( for a hefty fee of course )
Don't know what use these places are to Americans though ?
Seems to me like they could be adding to our problems.

Ha, I can relate to this ... while I won't mention the aspects of the
North NJ , NYC crowd Ive had to deal with , I can attest to the fact that upstate NY folks are just fine ... I would go up there on fishing trips and once they found out that I was strictly catch and release up there those
upstate NY fellers and me got along just fine .

I even got alittle lost on a dead-end dirt road up there trying to get to a stream, had to turn around in a guy's driveway ...he came running out ...I thought, oh man, now he's going to give me a bunch of guff ... nah .. he just wanted someone to talk to and came running before my car got away

Same here in Texas. Lots of places advertise that, and usually take 1% of the check (which I suppose isn't horrible). Most also offer services to wire money to most Latin American countries.

Cannot stand to see the PayDay loan companies. The little town not too far from us already has 2 of the blasted places. '2' for heaven's sake. Little town has less than 3K people. Granted. when you're broke and need money quickly, some will do just about anything. But, sure hope that these folk read what they sign. Would rather sell some of my 'precious' things than ever do a PayDay loan type of thing.
