kshe95..
Why thank you for fighting for me, I love ya girl..
But Ol Ozark is correct as usual, My Mothers family go back to the 1800's right there in Brosley, Mo. My Father's famliy moved there in the 1930's, from around Piggott Ar. (Greenway) My Dad went to the Pacific in WWII, after the war he married my Mom in Brosley, then moved to Ca in 1949....
I was born in Oakland and raised in Richmond Ca.
We spent summers on my Grandfathers farm in Brosley, and with the exception of my father all my relatives live Missouri. My Mother and Brother are both buried at Brown's Chapel in Brosley....
My Dad and Uncles taught me to fish in the Black River, and hunt squirrel in the woods around the farm.....
Luckily I'm still able to fish, but hunting is pretty difficult here in Ca.....

Hey BassMan, just curious what has changed about hunting since we left...twice....once in '96 from Bay Area and again in '06 from Socal? My hubby and friends didn't have any problems going hunting, nor any of my family. Not sure where we're going to be stationed and not being able to hunt might influence my husband in choosing orders! Thanks for any info!

And for those that do, they can't very easily sell their homes to turn it into usable cash. On top of all that, a good job is ever so much rarer now and ever so much more valued. There's much more willingness lately to run the "rat race" (always is, when the specter of poverty is chasing you).

Ah, thank you J1ndo, for the silver lining in the dark cloud.

Well probally nothing, I pheasant hunted alot until they built houses in the fields we use to hunt. I joined a Pheasant club one year, they charged around $25.00 per bird and the dog would catch them, with a 12 bird minimum ... Now I have a buddy who duck hunts like crazy, I don't duck hunt....
Went to go Deer Hunting a few times and there were more people than deer out there....Just not enjoyable to me.....

I totally understand that about the pheasant hunting. My dad always went when I was a kid and I can imagine all the houses they have built. That's sad.
My hubby is a deer hunter and if we do end up back there I sure hope his favorite spots aren't crowded like that.

Not much has changed. The permit costs for folks from other states who want to hunt Missouri have gone up. The MDC tried to pass a resolution moving the minimum acreage to qualify for free farm tags from 5 acres to 80. That got shot down because of a huge uproar from the hunting community.
The turkey and deer populations are strong, squirrels are everywhere...get your gun and get you some!
The one thing that has changed, we have armadillo's everywhere now, I never saw those when I was a kid, what's more exciting is that black bears are becoming common and the occasional Cougar sighting seems to be happening more. Armadillo's make great targets!

That reminds me of the first time I saw an armadillo in Mo, it was in '79, and the little rascal was scurrying around the square downtown, we assumed he hitched a ride from warmer climes.
