My Grandma always said armadillos are born dead on the side of the road.

I believe they're also the only animal other than man that can contract and spread leprosy. That's probably why you don't find them being served in roadkill cafes, or shouldn't!

Armadillos have been moving north as the climate has gotten warmer. They are now at least as far north as northeast KS and southeast NE based on my travels.

Certainly some have made it as far as Canada; well, tiny bits of them anyway (lodged in radiator grilles).

Armadillos are originally native to Mexico and South/Central America. Some in Argentina grow to something like 3 feet in length. They've been moving northward for centuries, and reached Texas in the 19th century. I've actually only seen 2 so far in all of Texas, compared to hundreds in Missouri.

I'm not from MO and my wife and I will be newbies. After seeing what's happened to our state I can only admire and applaud those who don't want it to happen to them and their state.

I know I push-back on OzarksBoy on occasions but it's just in fun. Decades ago I deplored what happened to my sleepy little beach town when it became "discovered." Not only do I not want to see that happen to Missouri but I want to become a part of its strength and protection and not its overpopulation and attendant cultural shift.

I believe I was 13 and my parents and I were crossing the country, yet again from coast-to-coast on military orders when we drove through MO and I became aware of the beauty of your state. I fell in love with it without ever spending more than a night or two there. Some years later, and a member of the military in my own right, I came through again and still had that same impression.

It's taken me four decades to reach this point but I would very much like to become a proud resident of Missouri.

Just wondering.

With that kind of outlook, you wont even have to go through immigration, I am sure the true Missourians will welcome you with open arms, even those of us that have not found our way back home.

Sounds perfect to me. I'll send you my cattle prod to cull off the riff-raff as soon as Anonymous Political Junky is finished with it.

I love seeing someone who gets it.

Entered in St. Louis and drove through the Ozarks of the Southern half. I remember the rolling hills, the greenery and all the lakes and streams.
