Birds Point, Missouri
Can anyone tell me anything about Birds Point, Missouri. I am doing Family Research and my father was supposed born in Birds Point in 1896. Does it still exist? Any information at all would be most appreciated. Many thanks.

Looks like it is just across the Mississippi River from Cairo Kentucky on Hwy 60. Looks to be about 30 miles from Sikeston, Missouri.

I know where bird's point is, but it is no longer a town. Only a few homes left and they are spread out.
Charleston, East Prairie, Wyatt, Anniston and Wilson City are the closet towns. Charleston being the largest, still only around 3,500.
I would think unless your kin moved off they migrated into one of these towns or maybe still live out in the country on your families land.
Good Luck in your search.

Re: Current status of Bird's Point
Hello. Bird's Point, Mo was at one time a well-known settlement. My forefathers came into Missouri at Bird's Point, as did many others. However, today it is literally nothing. There is one gas station and a Missouri historical plaque noting that this was the location of the town. There are some farmsteads scattered not so far up the road, but they would not have been a part of Bird's Point. If you're trying to dig through birth or death certificates, it was located in Mississippi Co.

My forefathers also came to Cairo. Bird's point is named after my family members who came there. They were members of the Blackfoot Indian Tribe and a story is recorded at the Thebes Courthouse about the Birds and Blackfoot. I too am trying to find family history. Their last name was Bird. If you find any info please share it.
