Moving to St. Joseph...please help
My family is moving to St. Joseph soon and we have never been there before. We have a young child and a safe neighborhood is very important to me. We are planning on renting an apartment and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a nice apartment complex, preferablly east of the I-29(I have read there is new development on the east side). I have looked into the Chapel Ridge Apartments website already and that may be an option. Please let me know if you have any information about that complex or any other complex that you would recommend. Thank you very much.

I don't know specifically of any east of I-29, but that's not to say they're not there. Two that I do know that are just west of i-29 that are decent are Brentwood and Broadmoor.
Just avoid Brittany Village. I've heard a lot of bad things about them.

My brother commutes from The northland of KCMO to St Joe everyday. he says it only take about a half hour. I always ask why he doesn't just move to St joe and he says, he likes having all the shopping and attractions nearby and that it's no further than driving from many suburbs into KC. He's from the city and St Joe is just too small for him I guess. Plus, if he gets a different job, he says, it would probably be in KC and doesn't want to move again.
I also know of a few people that commute from St Joe to Downtown KCMO, so there are people that would rather live in St Joe.
The only reason I say that is because that is an option if you don't find something you like in St Joe. A lot of people commute between metro KC and St Joe. I don't know enough about St Joe to tell you much else.

I've lived in St. Joe for three years, so I'm not an expert, but know the town fairly well. The area the Chapel Ridge Apartments is not very residential. It is near Hwy 36 so you will be able to hear the truck noise from the road. When we moved here the company my husband works for put us in the Greenbriar apt/condos before we bought a house. It's a nice area just west of the hospital (on Frederick) where there are several complexes. If you have kids the school in that area is also very good.

I would stay North,North, NORTH and East of the city.....I would have a cutoff line from either Farron or Messainie( runs East/West) and anything South of there being out of the question and definitely nothing downtown! Good Luck!
