Rentals in Jeff City??
I need help!! My husband and I just found out last week he got a job in Jefferson City. I've looked on News Tribunes site and Craigs List and can't seem to find any rentals. Actually, there are quite a few two bedrooms, but we are looking for three bedrooms. We really didn't want to buy a house just yet, but it's almost coming down to that. Driving around the other day we saw some nice duplexes, but we didn't see any rental signs for them. Are there just no three bedroom houses or duplexes, or are they just not advertised? We have to move in before the first of the month. That has ruled out quite a few places. We are wanting to move to the West side. We also have two children and a dog and cat. I'd love to bring our animals, but right now it's not looking good. We want to spend between $600-$700. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Laura

Do you have to have a duplex? The News-Trib today has several 3 br houses in your price range. The first ad under houses, from Schrimpf Management, has a couple of 3 brs listed. their phone is 636-3171. You could also look at craigslist for Columbia/Jefferson City. Most of the listings will be for Columbia so filter by keyword "jeff." I wish I had something unadvertised to recommend, but I don't.

We called up shrimpf management. They had two places in our price range. One was spit-foyer, which my husband is against. We just closed on our split-foyer on Monday. The other one was okay, I liked it anyway. My husband didn't much care for it. We've put in an application for one place we looked at. We just don't lknow for sure if we'll get it. I would just like to have a few other places lined up in case we don't get that place.

That's a no on wanting just a duplex. I would MUCH rather have a house. I just saw some nice duplexes around.

LOTS of people commute to work in Jeff from Holts Summit and Ashland. Several of the people on my team (I work in Jeff) live in Holts Summit. There just ain't that much in the way of housing inventory here, and it's not like anyone's chomping at the bit to build more. This is an old, slow-moving town.

You could look on the south side of Columbia too. That would give him maybe a 40 minute commute -- don't know what you're used to of course.

That's the truth. I was so worried about us getting jobs, that I didn't worry to much about houses. Thought that would be the easy part. Well it didn't help that we have to move within two weeks of finding out we got the job. Oh well. We might just settle for a two bedroom for now. Kids are still young and love being with one another.

We live in Moberly now. He has to live within 30 minutes of Jeff City. He doesn't like Columbia. How far away is Osage Beach. I think it would be cool to live by the Lake. Bet there's less places down there than around Jeff, though.

Osage Beach would be too far for a daily drive (over 40 miles), and I promise, you DO NOT want to live down there in winter. It's like a totally different planet when the tourist season is over.

Thanks for the reply. I wondered if that was the case.
