I do miss jack in the box, although I can go to St Louis to get my ultimate cheeseburger. I miss Del Taco as well, and according to their website, they have some in St Louis as well, I haven't found one yet. Hardees isn't as good as Carls jr. either...
no in and outs, I'll live.
what I really miss is Nations. Mmmmm the bay area's only redeeming feature...

I think Springfield had Del Taco back in the 90s when I lived there. I know for sure, there was one at the Fort Leanard Wood exit on I44.

I thnk that is true for many of us. Coming from a community with many folks of German heritage, we miss the crispy, hard roll called a Semmel. And a swiss-german half and half rye bread, dense with a hard crust.
We've started to experiment with baking our own.
We miss the little perch pulled from Lake Michigan, fileted, breaded and deep fried. Every corner bar and restaurant featured perch fish fry on Friday night. Luckily we found we could order them via the Interenet (the fresh fish, not the fish frys). AND, we're starting to like catfish.

I know exactly the location of two Del Taco's in the St. Louis area. One is on McCausland Avenue just to the north of Interstate 64, another one is at the southeast corner of Grand Blvd. and Forest Park Parkway, right by St. Louis University. I go to it all the time. Still, those are the only two I have seen in the entire metro area.

Those yummy rolls you speak of can be had in bakeries in STL, and they freeze beautifully!

Let's see, every Ozarks town needs a Nations, a Safeway, a Jersey-type bagel place, a Jersey-type pizza place, a Del Taco, a Carl Jr., a German bakery.
I think every town needs a kolache bakery, too.
Many transplants want a Whole Foods Market and a Trader Joe's, so let's build those while we're at it.
I'd also like to add a Fiesta supermarket in every town; we're getting so many Mexicans in the Ozarks we NEED lots of Fiestas.
Maybe we'll eventually get this state suitably fed.

OB, calm down! Having German food is historically part of the Ozarks, at least in my neck of the woods....

I love to eat too, and love even more to cook! This is such a typical Missouri thread, it devolves down to food really quickly!

Somewhere in the Missouri Forum is a thread where one of my fellow transplants, a guy living at Ashland now, complained that Missourians are so fat he could hardly stand to look at them.
I am a Georgian, so he wasn't speaking about me, giving me the freedom to eat heartily.
