In a large campus like the University of Missouri, there are thousands of students with many diverse interests. The Greek system appeals a certain segment of the population and repulses nearly as many. Head to Columbia and find people in the dormitory that have some of your interests.
While I am a Mizzou grad, I would not encourage my child to attend the school as an undergraduate student. As a graduate student, I think that it is a pretty good school. In some majors, especially the business school, far too many classes are taught by graduate assistants. You could easily attend the school as an undergraduate and have less than 30% of your classes taught by faculty members with a PhD.
As an undergraduate student, you may have limited access to full professors. Many professors are conducting research or have consulting responsibilities on the side and do not have the time to meet up with students.
This was a real contrast to my undergraduate program (at another large university) where the professors taught 3-4 classes per term, had liberal and frequent office hours and would often socialize with students.
