Relocation to Arrow Rock
I've been doing a lot of research on new cities and town that I want to live in, and I came across Arrow Rock. I immediately fell in love with this little town.
I'm planning on visiting sometime within the next 6 weeks, but I was hoping to find some people that could tell me more about Arrow Rock as far as places for rent, homes for sale, business locations that are available, etc.
I'm having a really hard time finding things along these lines on the internet and thought I'd seek out anyone with some helpful input, or in the very least, people that can point in me in the right direction.
Any info is appreciated.
Thanks.

It is very charming there. The visit that I made to it a few years ago left me with the impression that most of the people who are "in charge" are savvy business folks from the big city or from "someplace else". The Lyceum Theatre is the big draw, as is something about the Laura Ingals Wilder Little House on the Prairie thing (not sure exactly what).
It's a very charming little tourist town in a beautiful area of Missouri. I don't know what the job situation would be, but I'm sure you'll enjoy the visit.

As far as work your best bets are Boonville or Marshall.

Agree with the comments above. My wife and I own a small farm about 5 minutes N of Arrow Rock, which is pretty much a "town" in name only. It's just a collection of a few homes and a tiny scattering of commercial places, mostly relying on the theater drawing folks to the area. Really, it's a miracle that a reputable, well-respected theater even exists so far away from anything, but we're not complaining. Because there are so few places, it'll be hard to find both residential or commercial properties. If you're visiting the area, you may also want to look at nearby Blackwater, which is a bit bigger and has a very well-preserved commercial district. You may also like the brief detour, as you could easily see all Arrow Rock in half an hour. As stated above, Marshall and Boonville are your closest real, larger towns, and they are your best bets for looking not only for work possibilities, but also checking real estate agencies for Arrow Rock options. If you have any other questions about Arrow Rock, or want more specific information, I'd be happy to provide it. A last work about transportation -- I'm not sure how you're traveling to the area, but there are some road issues you'll need to know about. First, the Hwy 240 bridge over the Missouri R at Glasgow is out. There is a ferry running during the day at about 30 minute intervals. It costs $8 each way. Next, there are repairs on Hwy 41 between Arrow Rock and Marshall that'll have stretches closed. Hwy 41 between I 70 and Arrow Rock is open, however. Happy travels!

Arrow Rock is indeed a beautiful historical town. Several years ago when they filmed the Huck Fin movie the movie company redid the sidewalks and street in order for them to be correct for the period. They have remained that way through the years. Other than the Lyceum Theatre and the various small shops on the one main street through the town there are no job opportunities available. The closest would be either Marshall or Boonville and either of those big employers would be manufacturing and Con-Agra (Banquet Foods). There are currently no homes/farms listed for sale in the Arrow Rock area but loads in Boonville and Marshall. Hope this information helps you some.
