Default Commuting ? - live in Lees Summit but work in Sedalia?

We are going to be moving to MO in the near future....my DH has taken a job in Sedalia. We are finding out that housing there has very limited choices to fit our family (and our wants/needs) so we are thinking of the option of living in a bigger town with more to choose from.

Would living in LS and traveling to Sedalia for work but totally crazy? Is it just too far?

I think I've figured out it is about 50 -60 miles apart.

Driving that distance is your choice. 50 hwy can get a little nasty in the winter time. You will be going the opposite of traffic which is good. Check out Warrensburg maybe.

I commuted from Lees Summit to Whiteman AFB for a while. It is rough during the winter as 50 isn't plowed well. Warrensburg is a lot nicer than Sedalia, you might like it better.

Sedalia has such a fantastic history. It would be an education to live there - especially for your children (assuming that is what you meant by "family"). AND THE STATE FAIR IS THERE TOO! Gads, I'd love to live there.

What's the matter? Isn't the mall big enough? LOL Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I wouldn't want to commute that far if I had kids (I'm assuming you do but you might not). Might Warrensburg or Warsaw be closer? Neither is as big as Lee's Summit, but it might increase your overall options.
If you decide to look at Lee's Summit, at least try to focus on the most eastern area, maybe Greenwood too.

I would not want to commute that far personally since there seems always to be problems on 50 and that would get expensive if gas went back up... I would look into Knob Noster as well.

Check out Warrensburg - I moved here about a year ago and find it to be a really nice town. Not sure what your wants/needs - your looking at an hour+ commute one way from LS to Sedalia.
