Default How's your Lawn

Ok, with all of the warm and then cold weather, it is hard on the plants. I have one year old sod in my lawn and it began to turn green about 6 weeks ago when the weather was nice. Since the cold weather / frost over the past few weeks my lawn has a grey/brown tint to it. It anyone else here in SWMO having the same problem? Any advise on what to do? I have wattered it, put down lime and grass food, like always. My only thought is that the cold hurt it or maybe I put too much food on it. If that is the case, how long does it take to green back up? My sprinklers water from 5am to 7am off and on each day. I know that is enough water, but it is still looking unhealthy..... any words of wisdom???????

Old age is a blessing. My lawn is probably very weed infested, but the weeds seem pretty impervious to freezes, and the lawn mower cuts them same as grass. And with my bad eyesite, it looks like a perfect yard from about 15 feet away.

I have three acres of lawn that I've fertilized twice already because the day after I did it the first time, we had that day of torrential rains and my front acreage flooded.....$100 down the drain...
But it began to green in the warmth and the tulips came up and the daffodils bloomed and it began feeling and looking like Spring. I refertilized hoping for a bit of time for the granules to work their way into the lawns. They started growing like crazy and I did my first thorough mowing about a week and a half ago. Then came winter again... The tulips and daffodils were zapped by the 18F-28F lows, my lawn started browning.
Then how much rain fell yesterday through this morning? About 2.5"-3" I'd estimate north of Springfield as I have a lake again on the front acreage and my neighbor's pond overflowed into my gully and helped fill up the northwest corner. But... this time the heavy rain came long after I fertilized, so I feel fairly confident there's no problem there.
Then this morning's snowstorm....
I just want Spring to get here and STAY. I think my lawns will recover quickly with the coming heat...(if we get any) and be beautiful this year. One good thing is I think that bumper crop of ticks got zapped!
I think we just have to be patient.

the grass seems to be OK...I have held off on the fertilizer for now but my little baby dogwood got spanked! I have heard to just leave everything alone for now and wait til the weather gets a little more stable then feed and trim the trees and plants back a bit. My first spring in MO so we'll see how it goes.
