Hermann, MO help!
It may be a long shot, but my husband and I are looking into moving there. Only problem is (like most everywhere else in the US) the job market is *SCARCE*!
If anyone's from around there and knows of any general job openings...or even where to look when we go into town this weekend, it'd be MUCH appreciated!
Thanks!

Jude & Lucy... curious, yas are contemplating moving to Hermann, w/o having jobs? What's your interests, skills, etc.? Wish yas luck - you realize of course that you two new comers will be vying for jobs that locals are also trying to get? Sorry, not trying to sound so discouraging, but w/o knowing more, all I can do is wonder and say best to yas. As to where/how to find jobs there, IMHO be same as anywhere else - local paper, local employment office, on-line help wanted ads, etc. - which brings up question of how far would you be willing to travel for work? When yas get there - snag the local papers [ Gasconade County Republican - Home, Hermann Advertiser Courier, New Haven Leader, etc.] , look at the boards at the feedstores, grocery stores, etc. too...
Here is this site: HermannAdvertiser-Courier* online recruitment classified ads
Again - good luck
ps, welcome to the forum, and potentially to the Hermann area...
pps, take a gander at that Hermann paper - w/ the July 4th holiday, might be something in there to help you plan trip too.

We definitely wouldn't move unless my husband found a job first! I know work is scarce everywhere, but I thought it couldn't hurt to see if any locals knew of anything possibly not listed, or had any tips. He's been doing mainly labor-type work lately, has a class b license, and has also had experience in managment and retail. Pretty much, he'll do anything lol!
We have two small children, and another on the way. It's just so dangerous in St. Louis! If there was a way we could get some place smaller, safer, *and* with good schools (such as Hermann) it'd be great, ya know? My son is special needs, and I've heard great things about the special ed program at the Elementary school there. (I've even spoken with the director of the program)

It's not dangerous in St. Louis County or the other surrounding counties. In fact St. Louis Metro has one of the lowest crime rates in the US. St. Louis City, on the other hand, has had an ongoing crime problem.
You should look into Washington MO, small town feel yet still close to STL where the job market much larger than Hermann.

hello
you said herman, missouri? you must have relation there? herman is a very very small town. it is a couple hours drive to any major city or town for employment.
herman is a river town and deep seeded in the coutry.
do not get me wrong it is absolutely beautiful country there. and the roads are not the best. they are very curvey. but as for work? i would get a local paper and go through it first to get an idea of what the market is first. because once you are there you could have problems if no work.
