Hi C3bunny,

I have lived in Marshfield and outside of Marshfield in the country near Elkland. Marshfield is a small town with lots of people. Most live in the surrounding country. It attracts alot of people because it is the County Seat close to Springfield in Webster County. Webster County does not have planning and zoning which means you can do almost what you want on your property in the county....so when looking for a home, make sure you check out your neighbors property by driving by and making sure it's not an "eye sore". Property taxes are lower in Webster County. There is some beautiful places in Webster County. It also has a small Amish community south of Marshfield and close to Seymour. Marshfield has a new High and middle School with 5 total school buildings. It has a Super Walmart with several small service and restuarant businesses, Mcdonalds, KFC, Dairy Queen, Pizza Hut, Dancy's, Sheilas, Sonic, El Charro a new Farm Store is going in the old Wal Mart. Rental homes can be found but usually older homes. Has a town square with the Court House in the middle. The drive to Springfield is approximately 24 miles...just jump on the I-44 and 20 minutes your there. Most people in Marshfield work in Springfield. One thing about Marshfield....it has alot of traffic for a small town....has a town newspaper, Marshfield Mail.
If you have any more questions just email me and read my profile. Hope this helps.

Boof, I sent you a PM. A Health Food Store sounds like a good idea. Now you just have to decide on which location to move to.

Thanks Jcoon, that does help. I'm not sure what "a lot of traffic" means for Marshfield but here in Vegas it takes me almost an hour and a half sometimes just to go 14 miles on the FREEWAY to work each morning and then back home. I'm glad that you told me about checking on the surrounding areas and neighbors. I will keep that in mind when I visit. What about parks? Are there any parks with playgrounds in Marshfield?

Default Van Buren

We moved to Van Buren, on the current river a year ago, and love it!! Small town, but it has 2 grocery stores, lumber yard, car dealer, library, 3 restaurants, and THE RIVER!!! It is 3 hrs. to Memphis and St Louis, 2 from Springfield, and 45 min to Poplar Bluff. It is mountainy, with lots of trees.

We moved to Wardsville a couple of years ago for the school system and love it here. One of the few remaining places that is still experiencing a housing boom due to the school system in place.

c3bunny...are you out here? What part of MO are you looking at during your visit? If you give us a date, maybe we can set up a coffee klatch so you can meet the Branson/Springfield subforum "Over The Fence Coffee Club".

I moved out here from Las Vegas last April. Love it here!

MrsC,

c3bunny has indeed made it out here. She's one of my dearest friends, actually......thanks to CDF!!! I've told her about OTFCC, but she's had a lot on her plate lately, and hasn't been able to make it. I'll be sure to let her know you're asking about her, and tell her to get herself over here and join in. I'm sure you 2 would have great fun talking about your old stomping grounds.

Just stoppin' by,
Boof
