I'll have to look up Lake Winnipesaukee at Flickr and Google Images, too! It sounds like your parents enjoy the colder weather a lot more than snowbirds who head down to Florida for the winter.

Are you going to stay put in eastern Kansas for the foreseeable future? (Hopefully the OP won't mind this temporary detour from the Potosi, MO main topic.... )
I have been looking at some companies based in NH and ME that are related to my career field. I probably will be moving out of KS by this summer to be closer to my family.

The Kansas City Star ran an article on this issue recently, and the highest busts have occured in the eastern portion of the state that includes the STL metro. Apparently the problem has been rather big there compared with other areas of the country.

"You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Plains10 again." Ooooh, I hate this! Those Carroll Co. New Hampshire pics are terrific! I so wish I could get you up to 500 rep points right now, but I'll have to redouble my efforts to spread it around first. The photo with the skiers reminds me a little of when a friend of mine and I went hiking near Diamond Lake, Oregon last early October, and there was already over a foot of snow on the ground by the time we reached about 6,500 feet in elevation. We were relying on the small reflectors nailed to tree trunks to stay on the trail, and even then they were spread far enough apart that we got off the trail several times.

Love the covered bridge picture too--heck, they're all great! Well as I keep you posted on our relocation, I'll have to ask you to keep all of us posted on yours, too!

Franklin County, especially, which has been a crying shame! And I've got some relatives who live in Washington, MO too, which is in Franklin County. And Franklin County is sort of not too far away from Potosi.

Here in California, it's Lake County (northeast of us) which has had severe meth problems, and it's probably no exaggeration to say that pot is Mendocino County's (directly north of us) biggest cash crop. The latter makes you stupid, and the former makes you downright dangerous. Hoping Missouri and Oklahoma in particular can continue to gain the upper hand in fighting the meth scourge.

Default Potosi Missouri

I just moved to the outskirts of Potosi from Maine. Not to impressed with Potosi but, I do like the State of Missouri and there are alot of good towns. No good jobs in Potosi and the people around the area pretened to be your friend and stab you in the back so look out for that. In Maine people just dont talk up there if they dont like you. I like it better that way. The schools are ok. Dont understand why they worry about stupid things like kids being absent for the day or having to leave early for a dentist appointment when they should be more worried about the discipline on the buses and kids bullying other children. No good restaurants here either. Nobody knows how to cook. That's my opinion on Potosi.

I see that you are a former Mainer! Enjoy the pictures I posted of nearby Carroll County NH that I have on the thread. I will have to delete the post again soon because of copyright rules.

pcourtway2008 - first off, a warm welcome to Missouri, and to this forum. Out of curiosity, what brought ya to MO, and specifically the Potosi outskirts?

Plains1o thank you for those pictures they all are familiar. Beautiful State of New Hampshire, I love it there. I actually worked for the State of New Hampshire. Enjoyed riding the motorcycle through all the white mountains up there. ShadowCaver thank you for the warm welcome. I came to Missouri because my husband is originally from Missouri he was in Maine for about 30 years but wanted to come back to Missouri to be with his brothers and retire here. I really am enjoying Missouri and I just found a job in Farmington so I believe things are getting better. It is alot more layed back here and I like that. In Maine everything is really fast paced and nobody has time to sit down and talk and be friendly. For the most part, everyone is so friendly in these Southern States.

It's good to hear things are going well for you in MO. The Missouri forum is a fun place to be around as well.

Would love to hear from anyone about some good motorcycle routes in Missouri and other fun things to do. Been riding through Arcadia Valley out by elephant rocks and it was nice out that way. How is it in Branson? Would like to go there sometime to see some shows. Any places around to bring the kids swimming? We definately miss the ocean in Maine and I know we wont find an ocean here but, was hoping to get some information on places to swim, any nice lakes?
