Waynesville is a county seat town. Newburg is a small town nestled on and between two of our Ozarks hills. Waynesville is right next to St. Robert, which has a colorful criminal past. Newburg has a colorful past as a railroad town.

There's little economic activity in Newburg. There's a grocery store, a bar, a liquor store.

Newburg is the home of the Lyric Live Theater, which offers community theater and concerts.

Newburg has a solid school district that offers a good enough education that a friend of mine graduated from there, went on to earn a Ph.D. and worked in information technology. He's now a consultant, working at his huge Nixa home in his pajamas most days. I wanted him to move back to Newburg and build his huge house, but he wouldn't because there's no place to get a latte or do any serious shopping. (He got infected with Califoreigner's disease while he was working in the city for some giant corporation.)

There are MANY places all over the US that don't like outsiders- not just in MO. I have been to 47 of the 50 states and it's all over! Small towns in my home state of Kansas are the same way- certain counties too. Good luck to you

Most very small towns in KS these days do resemble ghost towns. Outsiders definitely won't come into those places.

Default Still looking? Please read

I must sell our 3 bedroom 2 bath home on 42 acres in a rural county about 1 1/2 hours from St. Louis. My husband passed away just over a month ago, and I need to sell. The cost of living in my area is very low.
