Default Innsbrook/Hermann area info?

I am looking for info about fulltime living in the Innsbrook, MO area. Considering a move to closer to "home" (Quincy, IL) to be near family but we do not want to give up the hills/lakes/rivers we now enjoy in Arkansas and Innsbrook looks to offer a similar setting. Hermann is up for consideration as well but want to hear which area you would pick and why? My husband would like rural acreage and I would like to be within an hour or so of a larger city. Employment is not a concern as my husband will be retiring and I am a real estate agent so am limited only by my own personal drive/motivation should I wish to continue to work after the move. Thanks!

St. Louis Lake Community | St. Louis Lake Condo | St. Louis Vacation Home

Innsbrook is a very beautiful lake community located close to St. Charles County and western St. Louis County for shopping access.

Have you considered Lake Saint Louis? (City of Lake Saint Louis, Missouri, USA -- Welcome Lake Saint Louis Community Association - Lakes & Vacation Style Living) a bit less isolated and closer to the city. Condos are running about $80K, homes around 220K (there is a nice colonial in our neighborhood at $240K)

I imagine that you are already aware that Innsbrook and Hermann are not 'closer' to home, Quincy, IL? You may want to check out the areas around Hannibal and Mark Twain Lake. Just a suggestion. Good luck in your search.

Quincy is on the Mississippi River, is it not?

Across the river, there is Hannibal, very hilly and historical with all the Mark Twain slant. Farther north is the small town of Louisiana, MO in Pike County, on the mighty Miss with lots of hills and bluffs as well.

Hermann is quite a ways south but it is a picturesque small town, on the Missouri River, about midway between KC and St. Louis. Amtrak did stop there; I don't know if it still does. But Hermann is a pretty town, surrounded by rolling hills with lots of vineyards and the town itself has somewhat of a European look and feel, thanks to the German immigrants who founded it.

I enjoy Hermann enough that we have considered, in the past, buying a second home there just to have a full-time base for vacations and R&R.

Thank you all for the replies. Having been raised in the Quincy IL/Keokuk, IA area I am very familiar with Hannibal and other towns along the river in that area and I know that they would be "closer to home" but do not really want to be that close - or that far north. Living in Arkansas now and love it here but with family in Iowa and Illinois it has us all spending a great deal of time on the road getting to them - or them getting to us (average one way drive time = 9 hours!). We want to cut that time by at least half without really "going home". Louisianna is an area we had not considered - maybe I will do some research on it as well. Thanks again!
