Science? Who needs science when you have a bible and the blind justice of J. Edgar Hoover to back up your "facts" and laws.

The laws are the current facts and after spending my last several years in law enforcement working narcotics I have no desire to see any drug more liberalized.
If y'all want to smoke your "herb" in peace, I suggest you move to Eureka. That's in California, dontcha ya know, and good riddance.

Legalize this legalize that ..... this is not about making available for medical use!! Just another lame attempt at legalizing drugs for so called recreational users!! Same old same old! Let's legalize gambling and prostitution!! My vote was a resounding NO!!!

Canada grows hemp and has a good market. The kind they grow no one wants to smoke. North Dakota and i think S Dakota want to grow it as well. Why shouldn't they? You cannot get high on it. Even if you could the common smoker won't want it at all they prefer the good stuff.
For the most part all i i have seen are the same old tired out generic reasons against it in this thread. Some use it for medical reasons as well. Anyone refuting that should imo be a doctor.
Of course we wouldn't want to ever make rope out of the stuff because that would upset the plastic companies that make nylon rope.lol lol lol

Over the years i have lost approximately 10 friends to alcohol(vehicle and health wise) and not a one of the people i have known over the years have died from smoking a little smoke. Gateway shmateway the term means nothing at all ;just a good term for those needing a way to keep getting funds to support failed ideology.
IMO A real way to combat the meth and cocaine is to prevent the money from leaving the country and going back to Mexico etc. Several years ago there was a major bust of a warehouse in LA that was loaded with pallets of money destined for Mexico. IMO A lot of this money goes home by train.

I suppose it would be a gateway drug if St.Louis legalized it. They do call it the Gateway to the West.
Tobacco and Alcohol are the true gateway drugs. Really this was just a propaganda term invented by the national institute for drug abuse. If you get society to think this way, that is how they act.

Yes it should be legal. Its far less than alcohol, IS NOT A GATEWAY DRUG, and can easily be new source of tax revenue.

I agree with you, as long as government control is minimal with regard to putting chemical-filled filters on the product, like those nasty-@ss tobacco cigarettes.
I am yet to see any cannabis user commit a crime other than the actual possession/usage. Most violent substance-induced crimes involve alcohol, cocaine or harder stuff.
The worst thing I've personally seen from a person under the influence of cannabis was watching him eat an entire bag of stale marshmallows.

You guys can play with words all you want, but to say that smoking pot is not the first step to using other things is a bold face lie and you know it.
Missouri has a Meth problem, CAlifornia has a crack problem and I bet the vast majority of these cases started by smoking weed....Come on guys I grew up in the BAy Area in the 70's, I've seen it all and done most of it....
Yes, alcohol kills, Drunk Divers are a real problem. So are people that have never grown up because of drugs. How many 40 year olds do you know that are homeless or still leaching off Mom and Dad....That's Drugs for ya, and pot is always the first step.......
Now I'm not saying that everyone makes the next step, I know plenty of folks that smoke a little weed, and they are fine. But almost everyone who does harder drugs started with pot

How come booze is not the Gateway drug? We walked the roadside ditches as kids to get booze, cigs and playboys. AHH! What a gateway that was. I think cops term pot as the gateway drug because a good portion of them drink and we just couldn't have alcohol being termed bad.

Sure it is. If it really was the gateway drug almost all my friends should be urine stained gutter junkies by now. Instead they became doctors, genetic researchers, major corporate and execs, airline pilots, nurses, lawyers, etc)
The only real reason law enforcement officers want to keep it illegal is because it is a cheap law enforcement tool. That small bag of dope in some kids pocket is nice revenue producer for the courts and a night in jail for the offender because the cops had no other charges to press.
(Now if that bag of dope was taxed, it would be an even larger revenue producer for the state and county. stupid, scared spineless politicians)
