Default Beautiful Drive

We drove hiway 60 from Springfield to Poplar Bluff yesterday, what beautiful country! The best part was the lack of trafffic. I think I saw more cars driving the 35 miles to the Sacramento Airport, than I did going all the way across Southern Missouri. We love it here.......

You would have passed though my hometown yesterday

That must be a nice drive right now with all the fall colors. My favorite portions are from Cabool to Willow Springs (the view to the south is awesome), and from Winona to Ellisnore or so.

Monday was bright and sunny and we drove from Rolla, after seeing Ozarks Boy, through Cabool to West Plains. Then we headed due east on HWY 160 along southern MO and through more of the Ozarks back to our home in Blue Eye. It was a gorgeous drive with all the Fall colors and the air is so clean you can see forever. Traffic? Wazzat?

Hey, no fair. I want to be driving around Missouri.

Hubby's Jeep has a rod knocking so we had to put off the trip.

We made the round trip drive from Pomona to Springfield yesterday. That's up 63 to Cabool and then 60 west. Made we wish there were some "scenic overlooks" so I could pull over and take some pictures. Gorgeous.

Default Sunday driving and Fall colors

Sunday was a beautiful day for a drive. Mine started in N. Arkansas and took me up Hwy 5 North 2/3rds the length of Missouri. N. Missouri had already hit its peak the week prior but Arkansas and Southern Missouri all the way North to the Lake was simply beautiful.

The bright reds of the Sumac, the russetts of the Oaks, the bright yellow of the hickory and orange-yellows of the sugar maples with emerald green hillside pastures beyond was a picture fit for painting.

I've spent a lifetime in Missouri and this was my first drive through the Ozark Mountains during the height of Fall color. I think I'll make this Fall drive through Southern MO and the Ozarks a yearly event!

Well, we are in Arkansas now, we made the drive on 160 from Poplar Bluff to West Plains. While the countryside was beautiful the trashy trailers between Poplar Bluff and Doniphan kinda ruined the view. Between doniphan and West Plains was very nice with a good mix of pasture and woods. We stayed with a cousin who lives between Alton and West Plains, on a beautiful 25-30 acres. Anyone know how the fishing is in Lake Norfolk?
