Question Louisiana, MO Info Please

Can someone tell me about Louisian,MO
My husband has been approached about taking a job there.

We have a 1st grader and one in pre-school.
How are the public schools? Are there any Catholic Schools near by? How is the housing Market? Is there good and bad neighborhoods? We can spend around $300,00 on a home, what kind of neighborhood would that get us? Do you recommend living in Louisiana or another suburb, if so how far of a commute are other housing choices? Are there Dance studios and other extra-curricular activities for children. Any info you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Louisiana is a beautiful town with lots of history on the banks of the Missisippi, south of Hannibal and north of St. Louis. It's very small - less than 5,000 so there are not the same ammenties you would find in a larger town or city area.

It is not, however, a suburb of anything, just a small town with its' ups and downs, good points and bad. It's a little more than 70 miles to St. Louis, about 50 to St. Peters which are the closest places of any size. The surrounding area is very rural.

There is a Catholic church, St. Joseph's, but I don't believe any parochial schools.

I would suggest visiting it before you decide whether or not you want to live there.

I've never lived there but I have old family ties there. Personally I find it a lovely and pictuersque place to visit but I wouldn't choose to live there.

You could get a mansion for 300,000 in Louisiana MO. Look at our News Paper for some real estate ideas Louisiana Press Journal. It's a great river town with a great school. I think there is a catholic school in St. Clemet aprox 5 miles for grades k-6. Not positive about that. Good Luck Shelley- owner howard street dance studio
